Artipelag – Stockholm

IMG_2585.JPG

A friend of mine suggested we go to Artipelag together today. I was not sure, as it was kind of far away and the weather was very iffy this morning but in true Swedish fashion, we packed our water-proofs and headed out. I really wanted to see her and her kids.

I am so glad that we went because we had such a fabulous time !

Artipelag, got its name from combining the words art, activity and archipelago and that pretty much explains what the place is all about.

Situated on the edge of Stockholm, on the beautiful archipelago of Värmdö is this wonderful space, combining art gallery, studio space, shop and great restaurants, all surrounded by stunning woodland with its fantastic boardwalk along the water’s edge.

The Food

It took well over an hour for us to get to Artipelag but it was well worth it. We took the underground to Slussen, then changed a couple of busses to get there but you can also drive there or take a ferry. Plan your route here.

The food was very nice ( although on the expensive side) and the playroom didn’t disappoint. The kids loved it.

Luckily, the rain stopped briefly and we could go out for a little walk along the water without getting wet and do make sure you pay a visit the bathrooms, one of the most well designed museum bathroom that I have ever been to.

There is currently a Warhol exhibition on at Archipelag and during the weekends, they are holding some Warhol-inspired printing workshops that may be worth joining.

Read about their activities here.

Enjoy ! x
