The Peacock Arts Trail – Paintings

As some of you may know, I have recently started playing around with water-colours and paints a bit.

I felt quite happy with the progress that I had been making in the past couple of weeks ….  until I visited Caroline Rudge and Chris Dunn‘s studio as part of the Peacock Arts Trail, at the Pound Arts Centre in Corsham.

Caroline’s paintings are so realistic it is almost impossible to tell what is real and what isn’t.

Her work ranges from large egg tempera paintings with metal backgrounds, reminiscent of medieval paintings, to tiny watercolour portraits and if you want, you can at the moment get an original mini portrait commissioned by Caroline for just £50. They would make fantastic presents i think.

Find out more about Caroline and her amazing work here.

While Chris’ work is incredibly detailed and has a lot of depth, they also have really strong narratives and are mainly based around animal characters. Realistically surreal and very magical.  What he can achieve with his water colours is just wonderful. I am so impressed.

Check out Chris’ gallery to view more of his work and visit his blog to find out more about his inspirations and processes.

I am not sure how I feel after these two visits, inspired or like I should just give up trying to paint just right here and now !

Better get practicing a bit more i guess … and one day …..

You can see some of my basic attempts here on Instagram.
